Excitement is growing ahead of Lapland expedition for schools in Plymouth. In just over a week, on the 23rd March, a group of Year 5 students from Marine Academy Plymouth, Riverside Community Primary School and Tamar View and the Barne Barton Youth Club will depart with Antony Jinman and Paul Hart to begin their expedition in Lapland (Finland). On the eve of the expedition, an official farewell will take place at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, Plymouth in the Hayward Room, 6.30pm-8.30pm. The children, parents, teachers, expedition team, supporters and friends will gather to meet the children and wish them well on their venture.
The Education Through Experience (ETE) team have been working incredibly hard over recent months to see the Lapland expedition become a reality through their Crowd Funding campaign, which is due to end on the 15th March. So far, efforts have brought the running total to £34,596 (99% funded). The team are confident the £35,000 target will be reached ahead of the deadline.
During the Official ‘Send Off’ event there will be an opportunity to meet those involved with the expedition, hear and see messages from local MPs and others who are supporting the event, and to take photographs of the expedition team. The prize winners will also be announced from the CrowdFunding campaign.
